LIGHT UP THE WORLD
For this project, Project90 will be collaborating with Light up the World, a global non-profit which aims to bring solar-powered electricity to families and communities living off the grid. Students will design a model for a photovoltaic system to be used in rural areas of Peru. We will then have the chance to travel to Peru to gain experience, such as practical assessment and solar system installation, as well as cultural understanding. Through this project, P90 members will bring electricity, light, and hope to communities that need them the most
VARIETY/GRIT: GO BABY GO
This is an ongoing project that is continuing from the 2018-2019 academic year. Project 90 team members are collaborating with GRIT (Getting Ready for Inclusion Today) to design toy ride-on cars for children with disabilities in Calgary. Members will apply their engineering skills to create and modify control systems that take into account each child's special needs. The Go Baby Go team's hard work is making a difference in the lives of children with disabilities by giving them the freedom of mobility and the opportunity to play and have fun like any regular child.
For this project, P90 members will collaborate with Samaritan's Purse, an international relief organization that provides aid to victims of war, natural disasters, disease, poverty, famine, and persecution. Project90 members will design and create a tarp-cutting device that will aid disaster response teams to set up shelters for those in need as quickly and as cost-effectively as possible. Our finished product will be included in disaster relief kits for Samaritan's Purse, saving precious time and money in times of crisis.
